I shall pootle everywhere

superlinguo:

A workmate of mine has a penchant for using the word pootle in conversation. Pootle is a great word. POOTLE. There it goes again.

As you may be able to tell, this word makes me laugh every time, a reaction which was only exaggerated by reading the Urban Dictionary entries for it:

1. pootle - To move leisurely, with or without purpose.
A: Where are you going?
B: I’m just pootling about
A: you strange person

A: I fancy a pootle. Who’s with me?
B: Hurray! From now on, I shall pootle everywhere.

2. pootle - To roam or wander
I’ll just pootle down to the shops

3. pootle - A small, fluffy creature, often seen pootling along the ground.
“There goes a pootle, pootling along.”

~ Instead of pootle, I like to faff. As in ‘faff about’ or ‘faff around’.  Matter of fact, I’m faffing right now.
