Disappearing mothers

“Why would a woman put a picture of her child’s face – instead of her own – as her profile picture on Facebook?”

I have a Facebook account with about 20 friends, and they are all old real-life friends (or work colleagues) and close family only. I’m a Facebook Failure really; I hardly ever remember to log in, and I post only a handful of updates a year. Yet I see this trend with avatars among the relatively few contacts I have, and even more with the extended friends-of-friends.

It’s an intruiging question, and an interesting article.
