It was a brave idea to get various musicians to cover classic Cold Chisel songs, and subsequently, some versions are more successful than others.

I mean, I like Paul Kelly a lot, but his version of Khe Sanh ( often referred to as the alternate Australian anthem) is so laid back that I want to scream. On the other hand, some of Jimmy Barnes’ absolute belters get a new lease of life with a sweeter voice and a more melodic arrangement.

Katie Noonan, who has one of the most beautiful voices in the world, does a really poignant version of ‘Choir Girl’, bringing a whole different perspective to an old-sing-along classic.
