MENINDEE LAKES NSW AUSTRALIA
The lakes are fed from the Darling River and when it floods the lakes are filled. Strategically placed weirs in various parts of the lake system control the water release, and water can be held back depending on the circumstances.
This amount of water is a result of the Queensland floods, but before then it was bone dry and lifeless. The green colour in the water is a natural phenomenon depending on the time of day and weather patterns.
